IL SAN PIETRO

Tucked away in a cliff that descends to the sea, partially hidden by colorful flowers and lush green vines, lies this romantic, unique architectural wonder located on the Amalfi Drive, a half-mile south of the charming seaside resort town of Positano. Each of the elegant 62 rooms and suites is uniquely different. 22 are sold as special rooms and generally have giant terraces, picture windows and Jacuzzi tubs.

The main dining room, which includes two lovely outside protected terraces set on a cliff overlooking the sea, has received one star from the Michelin Guide. Dining by candle light on these terraces looking out at the moon and twinkling lights of Positano with live background music is an exceptionally romantic experience. Other facilities include indoor and outdoor lounge areas, a small pool above the lobby and a sunning area down at the sea accessible by an elevator cut through the rocks of the cliff. In addition there is a tennis court and a small fitness center/spa facility and a Turkish bath.

Strong Points: A luxurious, romantic, boutique resort with exceptional service and dining on the Amalfi coast.
