HOTEL CALA DI VOLPE

Amidst rugged terrain, abutting emerald seas with a backdrop of mountain vistas, lies this uniquely-styled, luxury resort designed to blend into the Sardinian landscape. 90% of the 123, air-conditioned guest rooms and suites have balconies. Directly in front of the main hotel building is the slip for private yachts, the pool and poolside restaurant. The beach is about two-thirds of a mile away.

A main dining room overlooking the bay is open for diner. Breakfast and a fabulous buffet-style, gourmet luncheon are served at the restaurant by the pool. Located on property are three tennis courts, a 9-hole putting green, an Olympic-size pool, a fitness center and boutiques. There is shuttle service to the near-by, 18-hole, Robert Trent Jones-designed golf club. There are reciprocal privileges at two sister hotels, Pitrizza and Romazzino.

Strong Points: A sophisticated, casual hangout for well-healed vacationers and yachtsmen in a pretty locale with fine dining and service.
