FRENCH POLYNESIA-TAHITI
INTERCONTINENTAL RESORT & SPA, MOOREA

Situated on a mini-peninsula on the northwest tip of Moorea where cool winds sweep through the bungalows that meander around turquoise lagoons, small sandy beaches, giant coconut palms and tropical gardens, with rising emerald green mountains as a backdrop, this is the largest full-facility resort on the lush island of Moorea, a very short flight or ferry boat ride from Papeete. Accommodations include 48 air-conditioned hotel-style rooms in a two-story building adjacent to the main hotel, 44 beach and garden bungalows scattered around lagoons and floral gardens and 50 over-water bungalows connected by bridges. In addition to two restaurants, other facilities include most water sports, a heated swimming pool and children’s wading pool, a Dolphin Quest operation, two tennis courts, a large bar/entertainment area and several shops in the main lobby and an exotic garden spa.

Strong Points: An expansive resort with a variety of comfortable accommodations spread among lush gardens and lagoons with a nice beach for swimming and more facilities than its competitors.
