FRENCH POLYNESIA-TAHITI
HOTEL BORA BORA

Set on a white-sand beach on the island of Bora Bora with a backdrop of tropical flowers and green-clad mountains, opening its doors in 1961, this property was the first of the resorts on the Island to gain world-wide fame and recognition. After being purchased by the world-renowned Aman Resorts, in 1994, all guest accommodations were completely rebuilt and renovated and now include 55 Polynesian-style bungalows, some located over the water and others on the beach or in the gardens. Those in the gardens have pools and/or Jacuzzis surrounded by rock-garden walls for privacy.

The semi-protected Dining Terrace, looking out to the lagoon, though casual in environment, is considered one of the better restaurants on the island. Other activities and facilities offered include two tennis courts, volleyball, and a full complement of water sports including snorkeling, shark-feeding excursions, deep-sea fishing and sunset cocktail cruises.

Strong Points: Very comfortable accommodations, fine dining and concerned service on the Island of Bora Bora in a casual Polynesian atmosphere.
