Silver Muse, the newest ship in the Silversea fleet is "Golden."

When  the 596- passenger, ultra-luxury Silver Muse arrived in Fort Lauderdale from its inaugural season in Europe, we had an opportunity to review her on  an overnight cruise. As the next generation following Silver Spirit which entered service in 2009, she has retained most of the layout and ambiance of her predecessor, but with numerous additions and nuances.  Having 4,700 greater gross tonnage and accommodating only 56 additional passengers, she offers more space per passenger than  the Spirit. There are additional dining venues and public areas, as well as a higher number of ultra-luxury suites.

The vast majority of  the  suites measure 387 square feet  which includes a 62 square-foot veranda. All suites have teak verandas except four accessible cabins and several that connect as second bedrooms to the larger suites. For those requiring additional space and amenities, there are thirty-four Silver Suites at 786 square feet (including  129 square-foot verandas), two Royal Suites at 1130 square feet (including 129 square-foot verandas), four Grand Suites at 1572 square feet (including 635 square-foot verandas) and four Owner's Suites at 947- 1055 square feet (including 129 square-foot verandas).

All suites include bedrooms with twin beds that can be converted to queen- or king-sized with lush mattresses, Pratesi linens, down duvets and a choice of pillows. The beds are flanked by marble night tables with lamps and overhead reading lights.  Separate sitting areas vary by category, but all include at least a couch, writing desk, marble table and chair.  All suites also include a refrigerated mini-bar, stocked with your favorites, and bathrobes, slippers, binoculars, lint brushes and umbrellas for use during your cruise. All  feature generous drawer space, walk-in closets with personal safes and under-bed storage. The  42-inch, flat screen HD televisions located both in the sitting area and in the  bedroom are uniquely imbedded in large mirrors and have cable channels, on demand movies and interactive media channels. All  suites have Wi-Fi, European, US and universal outlets, hairdryers, butler service, and marble bathrooms  with full-sized bath tubs, separate showers and Bulgari bath products.

The forty-four larger suites have additional amenities and can connect to a second bedroom.

The multiple dining venues include Atlantide (seafood), Indochine (Asian/Fusion), Kaiseki (Japanese & sushi), La Dame by Relais & Chateaux (French), La Terrazza ( indoor and outdoor buffet),Silver Note (a night club with live music), The Grill (by the pool), Hot Rocks (barbeque your own steak) and Spaccanapoli(pizza).

Public areas are exquisitely furbished with soft tones and elegant furnishings. As on Silversea's  other vessels, there is a casino, beauty salon, Zagara Spa, fitness center, swimming pool, two outdoor whirlpools, jogging track, library, card room, boutiques, Arts Caf√©, Connoisseur's Corner, and several lounges and bars.

With only one day and one night aboard, it was difficult to experience all that the ship had to offer. However, we were delighted with the food and service in the dining rooms and amazed at the very special evening show that featured six of the best singers we have seen at sea. We look forward to a more in depth review on a full cruise in the coming months.
